Getting Ready for the Holidays.

The old guy ordered some special Xmas stamps a few days ago and they arrived in the mail today.  That was fast.  Rich tried to put a silly Santa hat on me for the photo, but I sure wasn’t going to put up with that.  He finally put it on top of a can of shaving cream and then plonked it on my head in Photoshop.  Pretty clever and I’ve gotta admit it’s kinda cute.  Thanks again to my big fan, Sonny, for sending us the certificate for the stamps.  The old guy doesn’t use snail mail very much anymore, so we’re going to have enough stamps to last us quite a while.

I had a quiet day on Thursday because Rich was invited to a special event that Sony put on down in San Diego.  He was gone all day and got to stay at the Hard Rock hotel that night.  He didn’t get back until late in the afternoon yesterday.  The old guy is good company, but doesn’t move around all that much, so it’s fun when Rich comes back and plays hard with me for a while.  He doesn’t think I saw them, but he picked up two new cubes for me.  I think he’s waiting to give them to me as Xmas presents.  I wonder if the old guy will be a Scrooge, or break down and get me something as well?

Have I Finished Growing Yet?

The old guy's back has been hurting him quite a bit, so Troy, his physical therapist from cardiac rehab, came to the house yesterday to give him a treatment.  Troy couldn't believe how much I've grown since the last time he saw me.  He got his cat, Tux, around the same time that I came to live with the old guy and he says I'm much bigger than his kitty.  Troy asked the old guy if he was feeding me Miracle Grow.  Ha! pretty funny.  Maybe Rod is giving me a few too many chicken treats, but I'm still very athletic and can jump and climb just about anywhere I want.

When Rich and the old guy took me to get my claws trimmed a couple of weeks back, the vet said I weighed 14 lbs. 14 ounces.  I guess that is kinda big for a kitty, but I'm thinking I may just be a natural heavyweight.  I hope Rod waits until after the holidays before he decides to quit giving me a few treats.

Yesterday, I got another holiday treat from Sonny, one of my biggest fans.  He sent me another custom stamp gift certificate so the old guy can get some New Year's stamps made.  Thanks, Sonny.  We're waiting to get the Christmas stamps back soon and I'm really looking forward to that.  Sonny also sent us a massive chocolate bar, but the old guy didn't let me have any of it.  He scarfed down the whole thing in one sitting.  Oink!

Warm Laundry

It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to get into the old guys laundry, but he dumped a bunch of it on the bed yesterday and it was really nice and warm.   I usually play pretty hard in it, but this time I just felt like lying back and getting comfortable.   It didn’t last long because the old guy starting folding stuff and putting it away.

Rich and the old guy also tried taking some photos of me yesterday to use for various holiday greetings.  The old guy tried to get my attention while Rich was taking all kinds of shots.  Here’s one outtake of me playing with the dangling thingy.  I can ‘t wait to see the shots they choose, but I think they’ll be really good.

Another Dangling Thingy

Rich is such a generous guy.  The 99 cent store is close to his bank, so he goes in there to look around every time he's up that way.  Yesterday, he brought me back another dangling thing with some plastic fish on the end.  The old guy calls him a spendthrift, but I sure have fun with all the stuff Rich keeps buying me.  Of course, I think he enjoys it almost as much as me and he has fun teasing me with stuff.  He'd better watch out.  It's been a week since I had my claws clipped and I'm already beginning to sharpen them again.

Sonny, one of my biggest blog fans, is also pretty generous.  A while back, he sent Rod three gift certificates to buy custom stamps.  We just got the second ones back yesterday and I think they're pretty cool.

We have one certificate left and Rich and the old guy are thinking of taking some photos of me to make a holiday stamp.  I'm trying to decide if I'll let them dress me up in some silly stuff.  A Santa hat is definitely out of the question.

Surveying my stuff.

It's hard to believe that I've been living with the old guy for almost a year now.  I've sure been able to gather a bunch of "stuff' together in that time, thanks mainly to the generosity of Rich.  I doubt I'd have so many things if I had to depend on the old guy.  He really is kind of a cheapskate and figures I'd be just as happy with free boxes and paper bags.  He may be right, but I sure do like the tube, my cube and that new dangling thingy that Rich just got for me.  Sometimes it's hard to figure out what I want to play with next.

Rich and the old guy will be having Thanksgiving dinner with Rod's other son, Greg, and his family tomorrow, so I'll be by myself for a while.  I sure hope they bring me back some turkey.  I've heard that Greg's wife, Robin, is a really great cook.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love things that dangle.

Rich went to the 99 cents store yesterday and bought a whole bunch of new fun things for me.  He thinks he's going to dress me up in some cute stuff for some Xmas shots, but he's in for a big surprise if he thinks I'm going to put up with that.  He did buy this new dangling blue thingy and was dangling it in front of me like it was bait on a fishing line.  Of course, I couldn't resist it and had to go for it.  He really is a cool guy.  He's up in Los Angeles today.  He is at the Union Rescue Mission and is taking photos with a friend who gives away slightly used shoes for people in need.  The Mission has it's Thanksgiving dinner today and will be feeding several thousand people.

Going to get my claws clipped.

The old guy pulled out the pet carrier from under the sideboard this morning, so I guess he wasn’t kidding about taking me to get my claws clipped.  You’d think the old cheapskate would at least spring for a real carrier instead of a glorified cardboard box.  Anyway, the box ain’t all that bad.  It has lots of air holes and the nice lady at the vet put a soft towel on the bottom of the box, so it’s quite comfortable.  However, I’ve grown quite a bit and there’s not much room to move around in it.  I’m afraid the bottom of the box may break and I’ll fall out if I get any bigger.

The vet is just a few blocks away, but riding in the car is kind of weird, especially when I can’t see where I’m going and I was meowing all the way there.  The vet did a nice job of trimming my claws so I guess it will be a while before I can tag Rich again.  The vet says I now weigh 14lbs, 14 ounces, so I’m a pretty big kitty.  The old guy says he’ll have to cut down on the chicken treats before I put on any more weight.
