Warm Laundry

It’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to get into the old guys laundry, but he dumped a bunch of it on the bed yesterday and it was really nice and warm.   I usually play pretty hard in it, but this time I just felt like lying back and getting comfortable.   It didn’t last long because the old guy starting folding stuff and putting it away.

Rich and the old guy also tried taking some photos of me yesterday to use for various holiday greetings.  The old guy tried to get my attention while Rich was taking all kinds of shots.  Here’s one outtake of me playing with the dangling thingy.  I can ‘t wait to see the shots they choose, but I think they’ll be really good.

Another Dangling Thingy

Rich is such a generous guy.  The 99 cent store is close to his bank, so he goes in there to look around every time he's up that way.  Yesterday, he brought me back another dangling thing with some plastic fish on the end.  The old guy calls him a spendthrift, but I sure have fun with all the stuff Rich keeps buying me.  Of course, I think he enjoys it almost as much as me and he has fun teasing me with stuff.  He'd better watch out.  It's been a week since I had my claws clipped and I'm already beginning to sharpen them again.

Sonny, one of my biggest blog fans, is also pretty generous.  A while back, he sent Rod three gift certificates to buy custom stamps.  We just got the second ones back yesterday and I think they're pretty cool.

We have one certificate left and Rich and the old guy are thinking of taking some photos of me to make a holiday stamp.  I'm trying to decide if I'll let them dress me up in some silly stuff.  A Santa hat is definitely out of the question.

Surveying my stuff.

It's hard to believe that I've been living with the old guy for almost a year now.  I've sure been able to gather a bunch of "stuff' together in that time, thanks mainly to the generosity of Rich.  I doubt I'd have so many things if I had to depend on the old guy.  He really is kind of a cheapskate and figures I'd be just as happy with free boxes and paper bags.  He may be right, but I sure do like the tube, my cube and that new dangling thingy that Rich just got for me.  Sometimes it's hard to figure out what I want to play with next.

Rich and the old guy will be having Thanksgiving dinner with Rod's other son, Greg, and his family tomorrow, so I'll be by myself for a while.  I sure hope they bring me back some turkey.  I've heard that Greg's wife, Robin, is a really great cook.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love things that dangle.

Rich went to the 99 cents store yesterday and bought a whole bunch of new fun things for me.  He thinks he's going to dress me up in some cute stuff for some Xmas shots, but he's in for a big surprise if he thinks I'm going to put up with that.  He did buy this new dangling blue thingy and was dangling it in front of me like it was bait on a fishing line.  Of course, I couldn't resist it and had to go for it.  He really is a cool guy.  He's up in Los Angeles today.  He is at the Union Rescue Mission and is taking photos with a friend who gives away slightly used shoes for people in need.  The Mission has it's Thanksgiving dinner today and will be feeding several thousand people.

Going to get my claws clipped.

The old guy pulled out the pet carrier from under the sideboard this morning, so I guess he wasn’t kidding about taking me to get my claws clipped.  You’d think the old cheapskate would at least spring for a real carrier instead of a glorified cardboard box.  Anyway, the box ain’t all that bad.  It has lots of air holes and the nice lady at the vet put a soft towel on the bottom of the box, so it’s quite comfortable.  However, I’ve grown quite a bit and there’s not much room to move around in it.  I’m afraid the bottom of the box may break and I’ll fall out if I get any bigger.

The vet is just a few blocks away, but riding in the car is kind of weird, especially when I can’t see where I’m going and I was meowing all the way there.  The vet did a nice job of trimming my claws so I guess it will be a while before I can tag Rich again.  The vet says I now weigh 14lbs, 14 ounces, so I’m a pretty big kitty.  The old guy says he’ll have to cut down on the chicken treats before I put on any more weight.

Waiting for something exciting to happen.

The old guy hasn't posted any new videos of me on the blog lately and says I'm not giving him much to work with these days.  That's too bad, Rod, but I'm growing up fast and slowing down a bit in the process, so I'm not ready to perform at the drop of a toy.  The old guy did go shopping yesterday and brought back a case of "Two Buck Chuck" merlot from Trader Joe's, so I do have a new carton and a few paper bags for my entertainment.  I found a little piece of something while he was putting stuff in the cupboard and it's kinda fun to poke around, but I haven't figured out exactly what it is.

I heard Rich and the old guy talking about taking me to the vet on Friday to get my claws clipped.  The lady there really likes me, but I don't know why they want to clip my claws again.  Maybe it's because I was getting them nice and sharp and doing some serious damage to Rich's legs.  I guess I'll just have to start working on them again, so they're in good shape for the holidays.   Ho, Ho Ho!

A Lazy Saturday

It’s on days like this that I’m really glad I’m an indoor cat.  Outside, it’s a cold, wet and windy day.  Inside the old guy’s house, I had a good breakfast and my belly is full, the house is nice and warm and the carpet is comfortable.  It’s just nice to be able to lie around and do a little stretching and rolling.

I think my mom has it pretty good as well.  She was a stray before Mike and Carol adopted her.  They sent us a couple more photos of my mom, Cali, with Carol and Mike’s new baby girl, Zoey.  It looks as if they’re getting along well and my mom is really looking out for the new arrival.

Meanwhile, Rich, the old guy’s son, is on a ranger’s truck on Catalina Island shooting a marathon.  He sent us a Tweet saying it’s very foggy and windy on the island.  Rich said a bison raced right by them while he was shooting the race.  He’s just hoping he doesn’t get seasick on the boat trip back to Dana Point.

Fun & Games

Rich is a big tease.  He really loves to taunt me with the feather toy and he knows I just can't help but go after it when he sticks it in my face.  At least I get a good workout and burn off some of the extra calories from the chicken treats the old guy gives to me.

Rich is getting ready to leave for his marathon photo shoot on Catalina Island, so it will just be the old guy and me hanging around today and tomorrow.  I'm not expecting much physical activity from Rod, but maybe some nice snooze time on his chair.  That's always nice.

Trash Night

Trash night is always kinda fun at the old guys house.  He and Rich toss out some of the fun stuff I've been playing with all week, but they also empty out a few cartons and bags and usually let me keep something I can play with this week.  This time, Rich put his remaining Diet Coke in the refrigerator and let me have the empty package.  All kinds of possibilities with it.

I think it's going to be another quiet weekend for the old guy and me.  Rich is leaving tomorrow to shoot a marathon on Catalina Island and won't be back until late Saturday night.  It's supposed to be raining and stormy, so I hope he doesn't get seasick on the boat trip over there.  He's probably going to get pretty wet along with all the runners.  Meanwhile, I'll be snuggling with the old guy in a nice warm house.  Good luck Rich.  Make sure you keep your cameras dry.

Sunday Fun

So, what’s with the clocks?  I had to go in and wake up the old guy this morning and he wasn’t very pleased about it.  He mumbled something about getting an extra hour of sleep because of the end of daylight savings time.  What’s that all about?  I just wanted my breakfast and some fresh water.  He finally got up, but he was a grouch all day.
Meanwhile, I’m just trying to keep myself entertained while Rich is still in Nevada after shooting a triathlon. It turned out to be a duathlon and they had to cancel the swim because of the cold weather.  The old guy was griping about needing to clean up the house, but I was able to find a rubber band and have some fun with it.
Greg, the old guy’s other son came down and took him out to lunch, so I had a little time to myself.  Greg is pretty cool, but he’s allergic to me and really starts sneezing whenever I try to snuggle up with him.  His eyes were really watering today, so I guess I’ll need to keep my distance.  Geez, how can anyone be allergic to a kitty like me?

A Lazy Day in Vista.

Rich bought me this little toy a while back and it's kinda fun when I don't want to exert too much energy. I can just stretch out on the floor and take a poke at it and the toy does all the work.  What better way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon?  We live in sunny Southern California, but it's been really cold and raining for the last couple of days, so it's nice to be an indoor cat and just be able to lay around the house.  Rich is in Nevada shooting another triathlon, so I'm just taking it easy with the old guy.  Maybe he'll treat me to a little chicken later, if I'm nice to him.

I've graduated to the big stuff.

First off, a big THANK YOU to all of you who donated to my birthday fundraiser for ASPCA.  I didn't meet my goal, but I did raise $185, and that ain't bad for a one year old kitty.  The old guy says he knows how it feels to be constantly bombarded by charities and politicians for donations, so please know I appreciated your generosity.

Now that I'm a year old, I kinda feel like I've grown out of playing with toilet paper rolls, so I'm now I'm trying to work on bigger things.  I wonder what I can work on after I outgrow paper towels?
