It's kinda weird, but sometimes late at night, I suddenly get a burst of energy and just have to get it out of my system. Tonight is one of those nights and it's also trash night, so I need to make sure the old guy doesn't toss out some of my favorite junk. Rich is still trying to sort out all of his stuff and get rid of as much as possible, so I also have to watch out that he doesn't throw out anything of mine. He did buy me a neat new toy a while back and it's a lot of fun to play with when it's real late at night. I can sneak up on it from all directions and pounce.
I think the old guy is just about ready to call it quits for the day and hit the sack, so this may be my last chance to play tonight before he turns out all the lights. On guard!

Stretching It A Little.
It doesn't take much to keep me entertained when the old guy or Rich aren't playing with me. A little rubber band is all I need for all kinds of fun. I can make believe it's a mouse or toy and do all kinds of things with it. There's nothing like stretching out on the floor with a rubber band late at night. Great exercise.

Rich is messing with my mind.
I’m an easy going little kitty most of the time, but things have sure changed a lot since Rich moved in with us. I think I’ve got the old guy figured out pretty well, but I’m never quite sure what to expect from Rich and he keeps messing with my mind. I need to make sure he doesn’t lock me in somewhere where I can’t get out, or pull some other kind of trick. Of course, I find ways to get back at him every so often and he has the scars to prove it. Hey, Rich, mess with me at your own risk!

My Favorite Things
I’m really beginning to grow up and it’s hard to believe I’m going to be one year old on October 1. Troy, the old guy’s physical therapist came to the house yesterday to give Rod a treatment for his back. Troy has a cat named Tux and he’s about the same age as me. Troy said I’m almost twice as big as Tux. Wow!
Rich and the old guy have been talking about doing something to celebrate my birthday. That would be fun. I hope they come up with something exciting and maybe I’ll even get some presents. It’s funny, but with all the stuff I have to play with, I still like my old red cube and stuffed owl the best. Troglodite, one of my blog fans sent me the stuffed owl and I play with it all the time. Sometimes, I just like to chill out in my cube and I stay in there for a couple of hours.

Wired
Rich, the old guys son, has found a new way to frustrate me. He's been dangling some kind of wire all over the place and--of course--I just can't resist it. Once in a while, I'd just like to relax and take it easy. Hey, Rod, how about giving me a little break?

Having Fun With Rich
My life has certainly changed since Rich moved in with the old guy. The old guy moves pretty slowly and doesn’t seem to have much energy, but Rich can really give me a good workout. That’s good because I’ve been looking at myself in some of Rod’s videos and I’ve sure putting on the weight. He had Rich weigh me the other day and I came in at 14 pounds! That’s kinda hefty for a 10-month old kitten. The old guy is threatening to stop giving me my chicken treats and cut down on my cat food. That would be a real bummer.

Tibbles Takes A Shower
I've always been fascinated by water, but I don't really like to get wet. Sometimes I get to test the water the old guy drinks with his pills in the morning. It comes out of the door on the the refrigerator and is nice and cold. Sometimes, Rod runs the faucet in the bathroom and lets me drink some water out of the sink. But today was the most fun of all. After Rich took his shower, he left the door open just enough for me to get in there and explore. It was all steamed up in there and the warm water was just dribbling out of the shower head. I just couldn't resist checking it out, even though I got some water in my ears and on my back. It felt pretty good. I'd like to know what it would feel like if I was like Rod and Rich and didn't have have any fur? I bet that would be kind of weird. One of my fans used to breed hairless cats back in New Jersey. I wonder if they took showers?

More fun with a paper bag.
The old guy had Rich do a little shopping at Trader Joe's and--as usual--they forgot about the recyclable bags. That's fine with me because Trader Joe's doesn't use plastic bags and I really enjoy playing in the paper ones. Rod tells me that his 93 year old sister lives in Ireland and that you must take your own bags to the store over there, or pay for a new one. So anyway, I think plain old paper bags are my favorite toys. I was just kind of relaxing in my bag tonight, but Rich wasn't about to let that happen. Things have sure livened up around here since he moved in.
On another subject, one of my fans wanted me to add a photo of the old guy in my last blog post and, as a joke, I showed one of Rod in an Elvis application. I sure can't figure out why, but my fan wants to see the original shot. The old guy couldn't find it, but he found a different one that was taken around the same time (1980) when he was only 50 years old. I hope this proves the old guy really does exist and isn't a figment of my imagination.

Planking
Rich was telling the old guy and me about the latest fad that's going around. He says it started in Australia and that people are finding all kinds of things to stretch out on and lay totally flat. It sounds kinda dumb to me, but I guess I'll give it a try by just starting out on the floor. Hmmm! This is quite comfortable.
One of my fans keeps asking if the old guy really exists and insists on seeing a photo of him. Rod hates having his photo taken, but he agreed to let me post one of him from about 10 years ago. He says that he got rid of his scraggly mustache back in 2004.
Okay, here's a more recent one taken of him in his client's conference room back in 2008. Happy now Troglodite?

Exploring the new stuff.
A New Place for taking a nap. |
Rich put his back out of whack when he moved in with the old guy and things are still kind of jumbled up around here. He still needs to figure out what needs to go into storage and what can be given to charity. Maybe life will begin to get back to normal when stuff gets straightened out, but meanwhile I have a bunch of new stuff to explore.
I was taking a look around last night and appreciating the old guy’s favorite Romare Beardon print on the wall which seemed to upset Rod. He actually yelled at me while I was checking it out. He also got shaken up when I almost knocked over one of his granddaughter’s surfing trophies. Geez! With all the new furniture, it’s easier for me to get up to some of the high places and just get away from things once in a while. Hey, Rod, I’ll make sure I don’t break anything.

Chasing the little red light
I was just having a quiet evening when Rich started shining the little red laser light all over the place. What's a cat going to do? Naturally, I've got to chase it--wherever it goes. I'm sure glad I'm in good shape and very athletic, or I'd have trouble following it. I'm not sure what I'd do with it if I ever caught it, but hey--I'm a cat--and if it moves, I'm gonna be all over it.

Nap Time
The old guy likes to take a little nap in the afternoon and I usually enjoy snuggling with him when he does it. His big old chair is really comfortable. Today, he was snacking on his cherries again and I was finally able to snag one out of the container. Rod says the cherry season doesn’t last all that long and he likes to get them as often as possible. The ones he bought this time are really big and sweet.
